Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Pocket Piggy is a chore and allowance tracker for families. It was built so that a family's information stays with the family. This policy explains exactly what that means.
The short version
- Your family's data lives on your devices and in your own iCloud account. We have no server holding it and no way to read it.
- There is no Pocket Piggy account, no sign-up, and no password.
- We collect no names, no email addresses, and no contact information.
- There are no ads and no advertising SDKs, and we never sell data.
Data stored on your device
Everything you enter, including children's names, chores, amounts, balances, savings goals and history, is stored on your device. If you turn on Family Sync it is also stored in your own iCloud private database (Apple's CloudKit) so your family's other devices can see it. That data belongs to your Apple account. We are not a party to it and cannot access it.
Family Sync and invitations
When you invite another grown-up, Apple's CloudKit sharing creates a private link to your family's data. The invitation and the shared data are handled by Apple. The name shown for each family member is whatever that person types into the app; iCloud does not provide us with anyone's real name.
Photos
If you choose a photo as a child's picture in the app, that image is stored on the device and, when Family Sync is on, in your family's own iCloud storage. Photos are never sent to us or to any third party.
Analytics
Pocket Piggy uses PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics, such as app launches, screens viewed, whether a chore was approved, and whether the unlock screen was shown. These events contain no names, no amounts tied to a person and no contact information, and they are not linked to your identity. If you choose to send feedback through the "Enjoying Pocket Piggy?" prompt, the text you write is sent to us so we can act on it, so please don't include personal details there. When the app crashes or runs into an error, it sends a crash report or error details, such as the app version, the device model and where in the code the problem happened, so we can fix it. These reports contain no names, no amounts and no contact information, and they are not linked to your identity. The Apple TV app sends only screen views and crash reports. PostHog's privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy.
This website
The pocketpiggy.app website uses PostHog analytics in cookieless mode to count visits and see which pages are useful. No cookies are set, no personal information is collected on the website, and IP addresses are not stored.
Notifications
Reminders, Pay Day nudges, and "needs your OK" alerts are scheduled on your own device. Cross-device alerts use Apple's push service to tell your device that your family's iCloud data changed; the content is generated locally and is not sent through us.
In-app purchase
The Family Unlock is a one-time purchase that adds unlimited children and lets you share your family with other people's devices. It is processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never receive or store payment details. Your purchase is verified through Apple's transaction records and is shared with your household through Family Sharing.
Siri
If you ask Siri about a child's chores or money, the request is handled by Apple and answered from data already on your device. We receive nothing.
Children's privacy
Pocket Piggy is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. Children use it to check off their own chores. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Information a parent enters about a child, such as a first name, an avatar, chores and balances, stays on the family's devices and in the family's own iCloud account, and is never transmitted to us. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, there is nothing about your child for us to disclose, sell, or share.
Data retention and deletion
Because we hold no copy of your data, deleting it is entirely in your hands. Removing the app deletes what is on that device. To remove synced data, turn off Family Sync or delete the Pocket Piggy data from your iCloud settings. Anonymous analytics events are retained by PostHog on our behalf and cannot be tied back to you.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted in the app.
