Full disclosure: we make Pocket Piggy. Every claim about Chorsee on this page comes only from its US App Store listing or its official website, each with the date we read it. Chorsee is a well-liked app, and for some families it will be the better choice. We say where.
Two apps with a lot in common
Both apps track chores and what kids have earned without linking a bank account or a card. Chorsee says so directly: Linking to a real world credit-card or bank account is simply beyond the scope of what we can accomplish as a small team.
(as of September 30, 2026; source: Chorsee, US App Store listing) Pocket Piggy works the same way. It keeps a record of what the family owes each kid, and you pay them in cash, by bank transfer or however you already do.
The biggest differences are how you pay for the app, which devices it runs on, and a few features each one has that the other doesn't.

Where Chorsee may be a better fit
- Someone in the family uses Android. Chorsee's website links to a Google Play app. (as of September 30, 2026; source: chorsee.com) Pocket Piggy is Apple only.
- You want a photo before a chore counts. Photo proof can be required for specific chores. (as of September 30, 2026; source: Chorsee, US App Store listing)
- You'd rather use points, or no rewards at all. Chorsee lets you choose allowance, points or no rewards. (as of September 30, 2026; source: Chorsee, US App Store listing)
- Each kid has their own device. Kids' devices can run in child mode and only see their own chore list. (as of September 30, 2026; source: Chorsee, US App Store listing)

Where Pocket Piggy may be a better fit
- No subscription. Pocket Piggy is free for one kid, and the Family Unlock is $9.99 once. That adds more kids and lets you invite another grown-up on their own Apple Account. How pricing works.
- A family board on Apple TV. The whole week on the living room screen: one row per person, each day's chores, balances and a Pay Day countdown. It is view-only, and the Apple TV app is free. See the Apple TV board.
- Spend, Save and Give. Earnings split automatically into three jars, with savings goals, giving to a named recipient and optional parent-paid interest on savings. See the allowance features.
- Pay Day. Money moves on a day you pick, with a countdown and a celebration. If a chore from a week that already paid out is approved late, that Pay Day adjusts automatically.
- Read-aloud for kids who are still learning to read. Kid Mode has speaker buttons that read the screen and each chore aloud.
- Grown-ups in the rotation. Parents can be added to the family to take turns on chores, without an allowance of their own.
- No accounts for kids. Kids need no account, email or sign-up, and there is no Pocket Piggy account for anyone. Family data stays on your devices and in your own iCloud.
- A printable chore chart for the fridge, as a monthly family sheet or a weekly tick sheet per person.
Where Pocket Piggy falls short
We would rather you find out here than after you download it:
- No Android. Pocket Piggy runs only on Apple devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and a view-only Apple Watch app. If anyone in the family uses Android, it won't work for them.
- No required photo proof. A kid can add a photo when they check off a chore, but you can't make a photo required before a chore counts. Every chore does need a parent's approval before money moves.
- No real money. There is no debit card, no bank account and no way to send money. Pocket Piggy keeps track of what you owe each kid, and you pay them however you already do.
- Widgets and the Watch are view-only. Kids check off chores in Kid Mode on an iPhone or iPad, behind a parent's PIN.
- Weekly or monthly rotation only. Chores can't rotate every day.
Choosing for your family
If your family mixes Android and iPhone, or you want photo proof before a chore counts, Chorsee is likely the better pick. If your family is all Apple, you'd rather not pay for another subscription, and you'd like the week's chores on the TV with Spend, Save and Give built in, Pocket Piggy may suit you. It's free for one kid, so you can try it without paying anything. For more options, read the best chore and allowance apps for 2026, or compare prices across several chore apps.
