There is no single best chore app. There is the one that fits how your family already works. Here are seven good options, what each one costs, and who each one suits, with every detail about another app linked to its official source.

Full disclosure: we make Pocket Piggy, one of the apps on this list. We have tried to be fair. Every claim about another app comes only from that app's US App Store listing or its official website, and we say plainly where Pocket Piggy falls short. Nobody paid to be included.
The short list
Pay once, with a family board on Apple TV:Pocket Piggy
Prices as of September 26, 2026, before tax. App Store prices come from each app's US App Store listing; Greenlight and BusyKid prices come from their own websites. Greenlight and BusyKid include real cards, so their prices are not directly comparable with a tracker. 'Not listed' means we could not find it in the official source; the app may still offer it. Prices and features change, so check each source before you buy.
How we chose
We looked for apps a US family can download from the App Store today that help with chores, allowance, or both. For each one we read its US App Store listing (the price list under In-App Purchases and the Compatibility section) or, for the card apps, its official website. We did not use review sites, and we do not show star ratings. We describe what each app says it does; we did not test every feature ourselves.
1. Pocket Piggy: best if you want to pay once and see chores on the TV
Pocket Piggy is a chore chart and allowance tracker for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Kids check off chores in a PIN-protected Kid Mode, a parent approves, and money is added to the kid's Spend, Save and Give jars on Pay Day. Chores can belong to one person, take turns weekly or monthly, or be up for grabs for whoever gets there first. Kid Mode can read the screen aloud for kids who are still learning to read. The family board shows on Apple TV, and kids never need an account or email.
Price: free for one kid. A one-time $9.99 Family Unlock adds more kids and lets you invite another grown-up on their own Apple Account. No subscription. How pricing works.
Devices: iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, plus widgets and a view-only Apple Watch app.
Where it falls short. We would rather you find out here than after you download it:
No Android. Pocket Piggy is only for Apple devices. If anyone in the family uses Android, it won't work for them.
No required photo proof. A kid can add a photo when they check off a chore, but you can't make a photo required before a chore counts.
No real money. There is no debit card, no bank account and no way to send money. Pocket Piggy keeps track of what you owe each kid, and you pay them in cash, by bank transfer or however you already do.
Weekly or monthly rotation only. Chores can't rotate every day.
2. Chorsee: best for photo proof
Chores can be assigned to one or more people, rotate between family members, or be up for grabs for whoever gets to them first. (as of September 26, 2026; source: Chorsee, US App Store listing)
Kids' devices can be limited to their own chore list, without editing chores or balances, and home screen and lock screen widgets can mark off chores. (as of September 26, 2026; source: Chorsee, US App Store listing)
Rewards can be allowance, points or no rewards at all. (as of September 26, 2026; source: Chorsee, US App Store listing)
Free to download, with in-app purchases including Chorsee Monthly $8.99, Chorsee Yearly $39.99 and Chorsee Lifetime $119.99. The listing also shows a $89.99 yearly and a $224.99 lifetime option. (as of September 26, 2026; source: Chorsee, US App Store listing)
